    Forum Youngblood Snowboard

    null

Forum designed the Youngblood Snowboard for up-and-coming riders who want to destroy parks and pipes, not their wallets. Maybe you're just starting out or maybe you're rapidly on your way up, either way you probably want a higher-performing board that doesn't drain your bank account. The Youngblood is versatile enough to advance with you, and it gives a pro-level ride at an am-level price tag. This board flexes at the upper-end of medium stiff, so it's poppy and responsive enough for big airs and hard turns, but it's not so stiff that you can't get it to react. A carbon-reinforced spine and sidewall construction makes the Youngblood lively, agile and highly durable; you can hammer it trying to dial in your rail action and it will live to ride—and slide—another day. Forum took their Hardcore wood core and thinned it by 0.3mm between the bindings to create a forgiving, smoother-flexing ride that easily flows from turn to turn. A directional flex and twin shape make the Youngblood a freestyle performer with enough versatility to let you explore other terrain occasionally. Mounting system is Inserts 4x2.

Bottom Line: Young guns need the youngblood.
This is a sweet board, buy it. - qwerty

    Tune your board

I was looking at the base of my board earlier today, and I can there are quite a few scratches and dents.

Which of course got me thinking. Next time I go boarding it might be time for some tuning and repair. Then it clicked, why don't I look at my own personal tuning kit so I can make adjustments without having to go to the shop.

So here is the product I have ordered. Of course you can buy all of this seperately but why when you can get it all in one pack and it seems to be cheaper to buy it that way.

    DAKINE Quick Tune

    What you thought?
This board is rad. It's responsive enough and poppy enough to make my friends look like beginers. Thank you Danny Kass. - Pale Dale

I'm back... Sorry there haven't been many posts but as most of you would know I was moving house. So between that and work there hasn't been much time for anything else. I still don't have my internet connection at the new house yet but I thought it has been so long since I made a proper post, I should sit down and get one up.

    This years NZ season

Who has been? Who is going?

It seems that this year I won't be making it to the snow. Most of you should know the reason if you read my other blog but for those that don't I am moving out of home with my girlfriend. So of course the funds which were going to be used for that will need to be used to setup my new office, and life style.

Although I'm not upset about it I am going to miss the snow this season I have grown to love it. So everyone let me know how it is.

By the way sorry for the lack of interesting posts, as you can imagine with the whole moving situation there has been lots to do. Not to mention that business has been so busy that I have had very little time. Since i have been staying at Mona's house most everynight with no internet connection I really haven't been able to post.

    That will soon all change.

    Jeenyus Eddie Wall Pro Model

Take it from the pow to the streets on the Jeenyus Eddie Wall Pro Model Snowboard. This soft-flexing freestyle board is so easy to command that you'll feel like a champ carving turns and bashing rails. Eddie rides all three board sizes; the shortest for rails, the mid-size for park and the longest on the deep pow days. The contact lengths of the boards makes them feel like they're longer on the snow, while the short overall length makes them easy to spin when you get off the ground. Eddie showed his respect for Peter Line and Kevin Jones by putting their names in the graphics of his first pro model board. The Jeenyus Misfoot 2x6 mounting inserts give you tons of stance options. You can move your stance back on powder days and center it when you're working the park.

Bottom Line: A soft-flexing board that's at your command.

    What you thought:
I didn't know anything about this board before I bought it. But I am so pleased with it. The flex pattern is on the softer side, but it still has a bunch of pop to it. It also feels like a longer board because he made the sidecut on it really long. Overall, it is a sick shred stick. - Berto

    Option Snowboards Joni Makinen Snowboard

Rock the entire mountain on the Option Joni Makinen Snowboard. This deck has been designed to keep up with messianic all-mountain shredder Joni Makinen. Free-riding day after day in Canada's steep and deep has helped Joni and Option make a board that is perfectly suited to throwing big tricks in tough terrain. Option's proven Carbon Tech II construction and Select wood core give this burly deck the durability and responsiveness needed to attack the steeps. Extra-tough sintered sidewalls are backed by Option's unique Powerail that reinforces the perimeter of the board for maximum impact protection. To maintain the break-neck speeds preferred by aggressive freeriders, the Makinen has a super-fast sintered 4000 IG base. The IG stands for Indium / Gallium alloy, a base component that reduces friction and increases speed. For the intermediate to advanced all-mountain ripper with bigger boots, the Makinen also comes in a wide version. Get the size that suits you the best and ride it hard, that's what Joni would do.

    Bottom Line:
    W.W.J.M.D? Ride this board.

    What you thought:
This board is great, it does whatever you tell it to. It's stiff to bomb the steeps, but also has good pop. It conforms to any terrain you're on. This board is a serious contender to any other top board any other company comes out with. - W.Butler

    Backside 180

A backside 180 is one of my favorite tricks. You can do it small while you're still learning, or huge and slow once you have it down. The technique is the same; the style is all yours.
    Difficulty: Average

    Time Required: Practice

    Here's How:
    1. Ride straight at a small bump or roller with the base of your board flat.
    2. Stay flat-based until you're just about to take off.
    3. At the lip of the jump, spring off of your toes.
    4. Suck your legs up toward your chest and grab indy. (Once you've mastered the indy grab, experiment with grabbing mute, tail or doing a backside 180 method.)
    5. Rotate slowly because you're only going to spin 180 degrees.
    6. Look down between your legs to spot your landing.
    7. Let go of your grab and extend your legs for the landing.
    8. As you absorb the landing, continue looking uphill for just a second until your board is firmly planted. Then turn and ride away smoothly.
    Tips:
Try to land a little bit on your toeside edge at first to avoid catching your heelside edge as you come around. Then get used to landing flat-based.

    Roast Beef Grab

Here is another of our newley started "how to's" posts. I hope you enjoy.

Pull a roast beef out of your bag of tricks and provide your friends with a chuckle and yourself with a little bit of snowboarding fun.

    Difficulty:
    Average

    Time Required:
    Practice

    Here's How:
    1. Ride straight at a roller with the base of your board flat.
    2. Spring as hard as you can off the lip of the jump.
    3. Suck your legs up as far as possible.
    4. Grab your board on the heelside edge between your legs with your rear hand. (Don't reach around your legs, that's a stalefish.)

    Indy Grab

    Tax Free
This is the first of many "how to's". So of course we should start with the easiest.

An indy grab is the quintessential "first trick". Once you get the hang of it, you can experiment with style by trying it tuck-knee or by boning it out (straightening your front leg).

    Difficulty:
    Easy
    Time Required: Practice
    Here's How:
    1. Ride straight at a roller with the base of your board flat.
    2. Spring off the lip of the jump.
    3. Don't bend over at the waist! Instead, suck your legs up so that your board will meet your hand.
    4. Grab your board on the toeside edge between your feet with your rear hand.
    5. Put your other arm into the air.
    6. Put your other arm into the air.
    7. Absorb the landing and ride away.

    Tips:

As you improve, try adding an indy grab into your spins. But to sound cool, remember this: "indy" infers a backside spin; i.e. indy is never frontside. If you spin frontside and grab between your feet it is called a "frontside" grab.

    onboardmag.com

Yet another fantastic website that I have just come across for all you snowboarders out there. onboardmag.com is an ezine, if you don't know what an ezine is you must have just crawled out from under a rock. An ezine is basically an online magazine, if you couldn't gess that from the name of this website something is really wrong with you.

It is full of content and it is actually updated reguarly. Most of these types of websites get built and then never seem to stay a float.

From a designers point of view the website itself is designed quite well. Navigation is simple, any adverts that are running on the site don't get in the way of reading the text and generally using the website at all.

You can easily subscribe to there newsletter straight from the homepage. Check it out, if you are looking for a good source of information.
