Silver Stars is an online MMA Clothing retailer, that I came across by accident one day. Now it's not strictly related to snowboarders but I know there are a few of you that like to ware the alternative gear so I thought I would let you know about it.

First of all the website is great. The layout is nice and easy to work your way around. As soon as you get on there you notice the type of clothing it is and you would know what I mean when I say some of you will love it.

Something that is worth a special mention is the free ups shipping for US residents. If saving a few dollars on shipping gives you an extra day on the slopes i'm all for it.

Recently they have launched a new line called MMA Apparel. The stuff is great and will really set you out from the crowd. Who knows you might even appeal to one (or more) of those little snow bunnies we see around the place. A bit of extra activity off the slopes can't hurt.

ClubPond a new social network

For those of you who don't know who I am, well I own a web design located in Perth, Western Australia company called Able Net Design.

Anyway for about 2 years if not more I have been playing with the idea of building a social network. Not just a facebook or myspace clone but one that has a focus on community clubs and groups.

Not a week goes by were we at Able Net Design, don't get a phone call from a community sporting club looking to have their own page. Although it would be great to help them out, financially we just can't hence ClubPond.

While I was building it, I worked out it wasn't that hard to implement some features for members who sign up to use on a personal basis. That is why I am blogging in now. If you are a member of a club that is great let them know.

It's been awhile since I posted to this blog as I am in too minds. I know you come here for SnowBoarding news but we do need to go off topic a little here.

The all important question is should Snow Extreme Blog stay on the blogger platform or should I move it to a custom site with it's own domain?

Either way I want to create a custom layout. I have tried with some of these blogger templates and nothing really speaks to me.

This was just a quick rant but I am determined to make a snowboarding related post later on today.

Are you heading to NZ this season

Since my last trip to New Zealand almost two years ago now I have been dying to get back there, but with work commitments I just haven't been able to find the time. This year looks quite promising so I wanted to know if any of you were hitting the slopes this season?

As you may know I picked up new bindings while I was in Switzerland last year so I never really got the chance to give them a good run. I think I used them twice.

If I do head to New Zealand I am pretty sure I will be heading back to Queenstown. The mountains around there were terrific fro snowboarding and the atmosphere of the place was terrific.

What is your favorite mountain in New Zealand for snowboarding?

Missing the Snow

It is about now. Just over 7 weeks since I got back from Swizerland that I start to wish I could just grab my board and head up the mountain. Unfortunately for me heading up the mountain is a lot harder then I seems, especially with me living in Perth, Australia.

That is my dilema!

It is around now that I start to think about a trip to NewZealand for their winter season. I know from my last trip there it was great. I don't want to hear about any of your late season boarding stories, so don't send them in.

You see their gear almost all over this blog. Simply because not only is their site design nice but their snow boarding gear is great. They have a huge range at cheap prices. So instead of reviewing either a snowboarding website or a product I thought I would review the ProBoardShop site instead.

Ok so let's get started. Like most snowboarders I am a fan of colour. As soon as you load up the ProBoardShop site you are hit with a green colour. Well actually that is the main colour scheme of the site everything is green. Then you hav ethe usual ads which you see on shops but these don't stick out. They are well positioned to create some interest.

Then comes all the link categories you could need. All of which are well positioned and easy to read. The ads down the right hand side fit in as well. This is where you usually see the changing ads. Compiling a List

Just thought I would drop a quick post in to let you know I am currently compiling a list of top 10 boards for 2008. As you can imagine there are quite a few to get through so it will take some time.

Who knows it might be finished tonight but it's more likely that I will post it tomorrow at some point.

Now I have gone in search for some information on the Oneil Evolution snowboarding comp that I saw in Davos. There were heaps of photographers so I thought it would be easy to find some pics. Let me just tell you I was wrong. I will continue my search however and let you know when I have some info on it.

Back in Perth

Ok so I got back on Monday, but I have had to spend a bit of time catching up with work and things like that.

I suppose the first thing to mention about my trip was it was great. Not only did we have great snow but we managed to check out the Oneil Evolution Snowboarding comp which was held at Jakobshorn while we were there. Those guys are mad with what they can do.

I hit the fun park at the top of Jakobshorn a few times. That was great, but I managed to blow the bass coils on my Sennheiser ear phones, which was a bit annoying. While I was there though I had my Birthday and "M" bought me a set of Skull Candy LowRider headphones which are great. SO the tunes were back on and I hit the mountain.

I suppose my main purchase was a set of Deluxe Bindings. These are so nice. I don't know how I managed to survive with my old ones. So my next purchase I think is going to be some new boots. I like the ones with no shoe laces.

This has been a quick run down. I'll have more in the coming days but just thought I would check in quickly.

I am posting this today because I don't know if I will post again until I actually get to Switzerland. I actually don't know if I am going to post at all when I get to Switzerland.

What I do know is that when I get back I will have so much information to post that you guys won't be able to read quick enough.

The plans for our trip so far are as follows. I will land in Zurich around 0630 in the morning where I will be proceeding to the SBB office to pick up my train tickets. From there we will go into Zurich to get "M's" snow gear (eg jacket, pants etc...). Probably around lunch time 1300 we will hope on the train to Davos.

Once in Davos we get on the bus to Weisen, then organise when "M" starts her ski lessons. My first day of snowboarding will proably be the following day so that is around the 19th, and let me tell you I can't wait. From what I read the snow is good the weather is good, all in all it is great.

The plans from there are more made on the day. We have a few trips planned but nothing set in stone as of yet.

Wish me luck and if I don't post before then I will be back on teh 15th of January 2008 with all the goss.

Davos Snow Report

As you all know in 7 days I am off to Davos, Switzerland snowboarding for my yearly pilgrimage to the snow. Currently the Depth of snow on the summit is 130cm and on the middle station is 126cm.

I have been watching the Davos weather patterns for the past month or so now and I am quite confident that the snow will hold out. You may remember or know that Europe has had a very early season, which for some of these small towns that make their living from tourism, if the snow doesn't hold out they will have a tough year. I am sure this all has something to do with global warming.

This of course asks the question, how long till snowboarding & skiing was a sport of the past? Or at least mountain skiing and boarding anyway.

As you would have known I purchased a JVC video camera in the hopes of getting some good footage. Who knows?

It is probably a bit late to book now but If you can get to the snow for Christmas. There is nothing like a white Christmas. Couple that with snow and basically what more can you ask for.

Two sites of interest

OK searching the net as I do I came across two great sites that might interest you! The first one I am going to talk about is Onboard Global Snowboarding which seems to be a social networking site for all of us crazy boarders out there. You can participate inthe forums post to your own blogs and basically do everything you do in social networking sites. Talk lots about whatever fancies you.

The second site is a little different, ThirtyTwo is a company. They sell gear they have a blog and a team. When I came across this site I was more interested in teh design but with some pokeing around it ended up as a site that I visit quite reguarly now.

So there are two sites I reacon you should check out.

Now Europe is boosting an early season so what does this mean for those of us that have booked our trips and hopeing that we aren't going to miss out. Well I believe that if you have booked for around the christmas time like I have you shouldn't have any problems. Quite frankly I think if anything the snow might even been better a little later on. That is what I am telling my self anyway.

I had been looking for some time and finally I settled on this JVC MG155 HDD camcorder off eBay for $419 AUD shipped. So now I just wait for it to arrive.

I went to the camera shop a few hours ago to have a look at it. I have to say it is a lot smaller then I had expected which is great.

I can almost taste my end of year snowboarding trip to Wiesen. It is about 6 weeks away now and I can assure you that time is moving very slowly now.

Anyway the little villiage we are staying is just outside the majour tourism destination Davos. I memory serves me correctly it is about a 20 minute bus ride. Luckily my cousin own a holiday house in this village which we will be staying in.

Wiesen is also about a 10 minute bus ride to the nearest slope which will be our main destination due to is proximity.

We do have plans to do some traveling and maybe even get to some other mountains not in the area in which we are staying in.

Just thought I would give you a quick update about what we plan to do on our trip. There will be lots more to come don't you worry about that.

Snow Already

The Burton website is reporting heavy snow in the US and Europe already. Contacts of mine in Switzerland are saying that their has been some early snow as well.

This gets me thinking. What is the Snow comes to early. There is always a fear that Snow will arrive late this year is different.

This might mean that my trip which is less then two months away may consist of me searching out the snow, if everything doesn't go to plan.

I arrive a week before christmas and leave two weeks into the new year so you would expect that there would be some sort of decent snow around that time, but I have this bad feeling. Last time I hit the slopes which was in NZ I was told that it was a bad year. Most of the mountains I did had around 80cm which isn't that good by enough. The season after they had huge amounts of snow opeing up some of the other runs.

Does this mean the Snow God is punishing me? I hope not!! I could just be a spout of bad luck. You know what they say, Third Time Luck! Let's hope so.

I have been working on a new layout for Snow Extreme Blog. Since it is relatively popular I have put my design skills to work and am currently looking for advertisers that would like to have a 125px x 125px image in a prominent position on the new site. I had six of these to sell now I only have 5 so get in quick before all the space is gone.

It is amazing today marks the 2 months and 1 day till I fly out to Switzerland for my end of your boarding trip. Can you belive that!!!!

I mean I will soon be sliding down the slopes in the Davos region which is were I was last time I went.

I am planning this trip around to get to a few other resorts if possible just for a bit of variety but in the Davos region there are quite a few mountains that I haven't done yet so if worst comes to worst I will just give them ago.

Myself and "M" (my fiance) who as never been on snow before are going for 1 month. Well actually just under a month so she will spend the first week getting skiing lessons from the ski school in the little village we stay in just outside of Davos called Weisen.

I am really just in shock. It seems so long ago when I booked this holiday and everything that has happened since then has been one wild ride.

The snow awaits me!! I will be pushing quite a few reviews and products which I hope you will all by. It is not often that I review a website on this blog that isn't to do with some sort of snow activity. However one of our sponsors has asked me to review their site so I decided that I would. At the end of the day we all need money to go snowboarding or what ever our hobby is so why not make it gambling on the net.

That is what this Online Casino Bluebook is all about. Basically that have to top casinos and the deals in one place so you know where to go.

As far as design goes there isn't too much to it so visitors will be able to find what they are looking for quickly. Which is a plus in this day and age.

I suppose the best thing about Online Casino Bluebook would be that as soon as the site opens you have the Top 10 online Casinos which gets updated monthly. Each of the Top 10 Casinos have a review (some of which are still pending) and their Payout percentages.

There are some many sites out there and with the popularity of blogs there are even more. It is because of this that we now see some great snowboardings sites started up by snowboarders. Not everyone is like me a web designer and a snowboarder. With that said I don't even you our own SnowFlake application to run this site. Why? well I spend all my time designing sites. SSX Blur

For those that read my personal blog you would know that a few weeks ago I purchased a wii. Anyway in keeping with the theme I had to purchase SSX Blur the Snowboarding/Skiing game for wii.

At first I found the controls a little hard to get used to! I mean I was used to the old SEGA mega drive / Nintento and SNES. Let's get back on track. So there I was running through the tutorials which I suggest you all do.

Then once I got the hang of it I couldn't believe it. You actaully had a sense of carving it was as real as it could be with out actually doing it.

The idea of the game is to get points, be the fastest all of that. It took my awhile and I finally opened up all three mountains or peaks as the game refers to them. So know i am in boarding heaven. Well if you live in Perth where there is no snow it is the closest i can get for another 3 months.

I recommend it the game!

It's been a while

There is now doubt that you would have noticed the lack of posts recently. Well I am sorry.

It has taken a long time for my new wireless broadband connection to come online. But now my office has moved and I can post from where ever I feel like it.

At the moment I am hang it out to hit the snow but it ain't going to happen this season. So my sights are set on next season in NZ.

Anytime I wear the Polka Dot Goggles on the hill, all the guys stare. What you thought:

These boots are pricey but you defiantly get what you pay for. I have either ridden or tried on all of the K2 T1 boots with the Boa liner, and these are the best so far. The liners remained the same as the previous 2 seasons, but the insole/footbed has been upgraded for more arch support and a comfy fit. The biggest improvement would be the new Vibram sole, they stick to everything! Last year's Vibram was good, but this year it's on a different level altogether. This is an easy boot to ride with. The only complaint I had was with the toe box. Personally I think it's a little too small, but you might like a snug fit. - MCM

I rode the T1 boots at one of the demos I worked last year, and I loved them and I am riding them this year. I know that they are a pricey boot but it is all worth it. I know from last winter that if you are riding and need that little bit of freedom in ankle flex you jut pop the boa and adjust to your likeness in about 3.5 seconds. - Anonymous

New website

I have had a good look and from what I can tell it is well designed. Being a new website of course there isn't as many users as for instance Snowboard.com but I'm sure it will grow as time goes on.

As far as the codeing goes it renders faster then Snowboard.com so that is one good thing.

Anyway there is still NO word on if and where my snowboarding trip will be this year? At the moment I have so much work that I really need to focus on, that for the next few days I won'thave much time to think about it.

New Zealand 2006?

I am thinking about going to New Zealand again in the next month for some boarding.

As most of you would know I went last year and stayed in Queenstown. I loved every bit of it so that is why I'm looking at making the trip again.

I have also looked at Mt Hutt. But what i'm not sure about is the off slope life. I mean what is there to do at night once you have finished boarding?? In Queenstown there was heaps of stuff, so I really don't want to be stuck in the hotel room.

So unless anyone can say otherwise Queenstown it is. Hopefully there will be more snow then there as last year. Im not complaining but some of the tracks were abit skint.

I am hopeing to have it complete in the next few days. It all depends on how much work I have on. At the moment I have quite a bit.

Tune your board

I was looking at the base of my board earlier today, and I can there are quite a few scratches and dents.

Which of course got me thinking. Next time I go boarding it might be time for some tuning and repair. Then it clicked, why don't I look at my own personal tuning kit so I can make adjustments without having to go to the shop.

So here is the product I have ordered. Of course you can buy all of this seperately but why when you can get it all in one pack and it seems to be cheaper to buy it that way.

Who has been? Who is going?

It seems that this year I won't be making it to the snow. Most of you should know the reason if you read my other blog but for those that don't I am moving out of home with my girlfriend. So of course the funds which were going to be used for that will need to be used to setup my new office, and life style.

Although I'm not upset about it I am going to miss the snow this season I have grown to love it. So everyone let me know how it is.

By the way sorry for the lack of interesting posts, as you can imagine with the whole moving situation there has been lots to do. Not to mention that business has been so busy that I have had very little time. Since i have been staying at Mona's house most everynight with no internet connection I really haven't been able to post.

That will soon all change.
